Usually taught at the intermediate stage in ones training, the Jian or straight sword takes the beginners into the next stage of the system. Besides increasing your focus by expressing your energy farther out to the sword, it also helps refine the underlying principle in Chen Taijiquan - Silk-reeling energy. Also, Master Ren teaches and demos the 5 levels of Push Hands which forms the next stage in ones training. By joining hands with a partner, you learn to move with no resistance and how to apply the ideas of stick, adhere and follow.

Master Ren commences the video with a demo of the 5 levels of Push Hand. He then proceeds to demonstrate the Ba Fa or 8 energies, then shows them within many different martial applications derived from form work. A rare video that shows Master Ren with a handful of his students attempting various holds and takedowns on him, as well as some San Tui ( Free Pushing) at the end.

In August 1998, Master Ren returned to Chen Village to enter the annual tournament. He competed in the heavy weight category and won First place. Besides his bouts, you will see various people competing from all over the globe as well as Light Weight winner Chen, Ziqiang. You will also get a tour of the village seeing the training hall, villagers practicing, Yang, Luchan's courtyard, as well as an interview with Grandmaster Chen, Xiaowang.

To celebrate the 400th birthday of Taijiquan founder Chen, Wangting. Master Ren turned the camera on the upcoming 20th Generation in the Village, as well as demonstrations from 19th Generation Masters: Grandmaster Chen, Xioawang & Grandmaster Chen, Xiaoxing.
